Who says great things don’t come to those who wait? The premier of the long-awaited action-adventure, comedic science fiction sequel Iron Sky: The Coming Race will be released January 16th 2019, starting with theaters in Finland and then expand internationally to audiences worldwide. The making of the film wasn’t easy for this $20 million Finnish-German-Belgian co-production which got a portion of its money from crowdfunding through Indiegogo. It took over five years to produce and had to survive a lawsuit, visual effect complications, and budget problems. Principle photograph was shot in Belgium in September of 2015 but the real challenge was in post production when the filmmakers started on the groundbreaking visual effects. There were several false starts but we are happy to announce the wait is finally over. The budget kept blowing up and Director Timo Vuorensola didn’t want to settle. Thankfully Iron Sky fans won't be disappointing by the quality of the finished product. Just check out the extended trailer HERE. The film was largely executed produced by 120db Films, a group of Finnish investors, crowdfund supports, and Jeridoo Universe who reached a distribution deal with the filmmakers. Other rights have already been sold to several other territories including northern Europe, France, England, China, India and Japan. Director Timo VuorensolaThe story continues 20 years after the first movie leaves off. The Earth atmosphere has been inhospitable after a nuclear explosion, and the last survivors have rallied together on the former Nazi moon base, with many refugees from Earth among them. Over the years a large human colony has formed, with its own fascist government and religions.
Obi Washington is among them. She is a loud mouth spaceship pilot who finds there are some remains of humanity on Earth, specifically hidden in an underground city at the center of the Earth with the means to save the moon base. Obi Washington and a group of adventurers decide to travel to Earth to seek help. But the explorers find something deeply disturbing: the remains of humanity in the underground city are another species all together. In fact, Washington and her crew stumble upon a prehuman world of dinosaurs ruled by a race of reptilians led by Adolf Hitler, who rules in his reptilian form along with Margaret Thatcher, Joseph Stalin, and Osama bin Laden. In Finland, there is a private party for a select few filmmakers, producers, and special guests. There will be live music, a DJ, and Iron Sky merchandise. After the party is over, Director Timo Vuorensola will be hard at work on the third title in the series called Iron Sky: The Ark.
